I Love Me, I Love Me Not

Some women understand more about their physical proportions than others, but that does not necessarily mean that they have a totally realistic body image.

After all, how many times have we been classified?

I am a pear, she is an apple, Frannie is a... banana?

Although each of us may, in some ways, fit a classic body type, we are unique individuals. We carry ourselves differently, we have different “best” features, and we all have things that we would prefer to keep hidden from the world.

This is why we will not rely overly much on “body types” in this class. We discuss our bodies as individual works of nature that we choose to celebrate.

Since we will focus on celebration of our bodies, we will want to do this in the best possible way—with understanding. Why understanding?

Well, have you ever been given a gift with the best intentions, but you really hated it? Not just disliked it, but truly hated the gift. The thought was beautiful and you cherished everything it meant, right? BUT, the gift itself was just awful.

THAT is a celebration without understanding. We should never shortchange ourselves that way.
